Synopsis:

As a DC defense attorney, Stanton Shaw keeps his head cool, his questions sharp, and his arguments irrefutable. They don’t call him the Jury Charmer for nothing – with his southern drawl, disarming smile and captivating green eyes – he’s a hard man to say no to. Men want to be him and women want to be thoroughly cross examined by him.

Stanton’s a man with a plan. And for a while, life was going according to that plan.

Until the day he receives an invitation to the wedding of his high school sweetheart and mother of his beloved ten-year old daughter. Jenny is getting married — to someone who isn’t him.

That’s definitely not part of the plan.

Review:

This book was such a different romance that I’ve read before, normally it’s two people meet and then they end up falling in love. I loved that that wasn’t the case in this book, they were already in a friends with benefits relationship when all of this started, and then over time it progressed into more. I think at some points it may have been hard to see this progression because what was going on with Jenny but you can still see it enough that it didn’t bother me as much. Sometimes I did think that Stanton’s decisions were flawed, who takes their friends with benefits relationship with them when there trying to win their girl back? Although this does show how early on his feelings went back.

I really enjoyed the main characters but I wasn’t a fan of Jenny, I think that in this book she was in the wrong, she should have told Stanton that she wanted something different that what they had when she realized it, not after she was well past that and then she was going to get married to someone else. She treated Stanton like him being pissed about her engagement was completely out of the blue, but to him her engagement was out of the blue.

I’m glade that we got to meet some of the characters in the series who will have their own books later on in the future, I cant wait to go read them.
